Ever taken a walk through your town and wondered where all the ladies are? Or better yet, where all of the jobs are? If so, it’s possible that you simply live in the wrong city. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered – here is a list of the best places for men to live based on health, employment, and women:
1. New York City
Dubbed the “City That Never Sleeps”, New York is the most populous city in the country. With over 8 million people (almost 18 million in the NYC metropolitan area), there are plenty of jobs and universities here. New York City has one of the largest economies in the world, and it’s listed as one of the three command centers of the world economy (London and Tokyo are the other two). Forty-five of the Fortune 500 companies are headquartered in New York, so there are many opportunities for employment and job growth. In addition, there are several hundred thousand (some estimates say a million) more single women in NYC than there are men. There’s also adequate access to beaches with the Hamptons on one end and the Jersey Shore on the other (GTL anyone?). Various cultural attractions, a variety of restaurants, and some of the world’s best entertainment options are also perks of the Big Apple.
2. Miami, FL
Beaches, bikinis, and bars: Miami has so much to offer. Unlike NYC, Miami has some relatively inexpensive housing options and loads of spicy women. Killer parties and nice weather are also a plus, in addition to the array of cultural festivals thanks to the large Cuban-American population. The health benefits are actually quite extensive, too. Forbes named Miami America’s cleanest city in 2008 because of its good air quality, clean streets, vast recycling services, and green infrastructure. Economically, Miami has a huge workforce with a metro population of 5.5 million people and was named the “richest city in the United States” by UBS, a Swiss financial services firm. If you want beautiful weather and a tropical paradise, Miami is the place for you.
3. Washington D.C.
The district that houses the most important and powerful politicians in the nation may seem like a boring place to live; after all, what does D.C. have to offer besides national monuments, lobbyists, and tourists? Well, quite a bit, actually. The capital has a host of historic locations to explore with your special lady. Yes, women outnumber men here, and these women are probably well educated, too. D.C. hosts several universities, including American, George Washington, and Georgetown universities, just to name a few. By a 2010 estimate, D.C. has the fourth largest metropolitan economy in the United States, and coupled with a low unemployment rate (the Washington Metro Area has the second lowest rate among all metros in the nation) things don’t look too shabby. Almost 30% of jobs in D.C. belong to the government, but if politics aren’t your forte, don’t be disheartened; many law firms, independent contractors, trade groups, lobbying firms, and corporations have headquarters in the D.C. area. With this array of benefits, it’s no wonder the president decided to call it home…
